A little baby elephant has blue eyes and very little control of its trunk. The little elephant had her mom and a lot of aunts looking out for her.
Baby elephants stay with their mom for more than 15 years. Some daughters remain their entire lives while the sons go off to form bachelor herds.
A young calf sticks to the shadow of its mom during the heat of the day when the elephants take shelter from the scorching sun.
The baby is always looking for a chance to suckle when her mom is not busy foraging. But that danged trunk seems to get in the way.
A brave little tusker charges at an imaginary foe only he can see. Maybe he is fending off a pride of marauding lions. Some day he might do that for real.
