I took a quixotic quest up to Pickaway County to try out my new-used Nikon D500. I still need to figure out the wonky focus points. And I need to get the camera cleaned because I realized the sensor has a lot of water spots from its previous owner. But this was the first keeper pic with my new camera.
It was a good outing for owls. They took advantage of the windless day to come out early and hunt the tall-grass prairies in the late-afternoon murk. I must have seen 10 owls tonight.
An owl catches a vole in the tall grass. There was very little light from the deeply overcast skies. The focus points were vexing. I need to figure that out. Most of the pics were blurry trash.
Here's a comparison shot of a shortie from March at Fernald using my Nikon D7500.
Another comparison shot with the D7500, which has the same sensor as the D500. What do you think?
