Wildlife photography failure

 


Miami Whitewater is full of orange jewelweed — and ruby-throated hummingbirds. I spent most of the Labor Day weekend trying to figure out how to do trap-focus photography to capture these hummers in air-to-air combat. My camera's focus simply isn't fast enough to capture the half-second interactions as the hummers defend their favorite patch against interlopers. But after hours of trial and error with the Nikon settings, I gave up.



And played with this little farker. My sister got her daughter a kitten that I stole for the weekend while they were away. Snickers says hi.
