We grow up talking a lot about gophers. Don't twist your ankle in a gopher hole! They were a big part of the pop culture of my youth. Bugs Bunny cartoons. The Love Boat. The dancing gopher from Caddyshack. But this was the first one I have actually seen.
He used his chest like a bulldozer to move loose dirt out of the way.
Gophers have claws like a grizzly bear’s for digging.
He made short work of this tunnel.
Everything eats gophers, so having handy tunnels is probably a good defense.
